Too Busy for My Own Good

Oy. You have no idea. I know I said by the end of the weekend you’d hear from me and it’s TUESDAY. FAIL, yes I know. But who cares. I know some of you (or not) have been dying to know (or not) what I’ve been up to lately. Well I’ll try my best to give the condensed and legal versions. .          Internship- my 'thank you' flowers How time flies. It seems like just yesterday I was in Maryland, breaking my neck to get back to Philly to move out of my apartment and start my internship. While some paperwork prevents me from going into full detail, do know I had a blast working there and met some very wonderful people while enjoying lots of yummy food. I’m currently praying all works out and I can continue to work there during the semester so fingers crossed baby! Wedding- I LOVE weddings. I’m so girly it’s sickening sometimes and you can ask Ashante and watch him cringe when I get started on weddings. The channel I miss the most fr...

Coming Soon...

Hello my lovemuffins. Yes, I'm alive. I know, you were worried. (Or not, noting the lack of views I've had... you don't love me anymore? :-( ) Anywho. I fully promise I will be back, in fact I have several things I'm covering in my next post: Internship wrap up. Weddings Collection 2 kickoff pie. In relation to number 4 I'll cheat a bit. Check my recipes page to peep my newest exploit. Until sometime this weekend, Whit xoxoxo

Things. Messy Things. Yummy Things. Simple Things.

So as I promised I'd post other little side projects until the semester heats up again... (During down time at work I actually started developing some preliminary Collection flats and drawings but thats another post...) Because of my Internship I'm living on campus and we had to move halfway through the summer term (two weekends ago). It was hot, I was hormonal, it was my Darling Roomie's birthday weekend and due to events we wont discuss (there was water and sofas involved) she was irritable and we spent the day before cleaning the mess of an apartment we didn't destroy from a party we didn't even throw... (we'll also leave that alone). Then we lost my massive collection of multipurpose life-saving clear thumbtacks which she inadvertently and haphazardly packed with her bath things. By 10p.m. we were a hot mess again. The nice thing about this move is that we worked the system and got to move straight into our apartment for the school year, so no more movin...

Felt the need...

*Note: I began writing this around 9 pm and got sidetracked, we are not watching movies at 1am... So I'm sitting here with my roommate Meg watching Julie and Julia while drinking Cupcake Vineyards Moscato D'Asti. I felt that this particular wine and movie was worth a post. (I mean this blog IS about all things fashion right? The costumes are impeccable to the Julia Child's portions and whats more trendy right now than a cupcake?) First the wine. Cupcake makes especially fruity and sweet wines that will easily appeal to the "non- wine drinker". I've had both the the Sauvignon Blanc and the Moscato but the Moscato is my favorite hands down. It has the subtle flavors of peach and other tropical fruits and bottled with fizzy deliciousness. It was wonderful with my chicken dinner and my ice cream tonight. I originally encountered this delicious treat at the Sew In Love wedding dress show and benefit, as it was a sponsor. Cupcake Moscato. yummy. On th...

Been so Long!! (slightly introspective, so DEAL WITH IT)

September- EWF OMG where have I been you ask? Good question since I don't even know some days. After Collection and the Fashion show ended my life did not slow down in the least bit. Right after I wrapped up with school it was literally right back to the dressform, as I had a prom dress to make for the daughter of one of my mom's co workers. I wont post the photo of her, since I didn't ask her permission, but you can see the gown. front back After that I started my internship at Catherines, part of the Charming Shoppes (Ascena Retail?) corporations. (They also own Fashion Bug and Lane Bryant). So far I like it and have learned a lot of how industry works and the importance of understanding business- kinda leaving me wishing I had taken a management or intro to finance course.. ah well c'est la vie I'll learn as I go, that's the point of intern and apprenticeships, no? The Product Development team is an awesome bunch, they are lots of fun. I have ...

Fashion in Motion: The PhilaU 2012 Fashion Show

As the weekend winds down I can finally recap some of the events- basically the Annual Fashion Show put on by my school every year- this past Saturday in fact. My family (below) came to support me, as well as my boyfriend, roommate, my bestie and her boyfriend. As always it was a lovely affair, with my evening kicking off with a reception for the VIP guests being honored at the gala that was held later that evening. There I met Alan Sirkin, an alumnus and the President of PVH Co,(Phillips- Van Heusen) the parent company to many high name brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Van Heusen, Calvin Klein, Geoffrey Beane and others; as well as Francis Shammo, CFO of Verizon via his son and girlfriend who were very interested in what "fashion designers do". After a couple glasses of wine, two cheese plates and several rounds of mini-crabcakes  and chili chicken skewers, it was time to head downstairs to the show. It was very surreal as many of the girls will be graduating in two wee...
