Oy. You have no idea. I know I said by the end of the weekend you’d hear from me and it’s TUESDAY. FAIL, yes I know. But who cares. I know some of you (or not) have been dying to know (or not) what I’ve been up to lately. It seems like just yesterday I was in Maryland, breaking my neck to get back to Philly to move out of my apartment and start my internship. While some paperwork prevents me from going into full detail, do know I had a blast working there and met some very wonderful people while enjoying lots of yummy food.   September- EWF OMG where have I been you ask? Good question since I don't even know some days. After Collection and the Fashion show ended my life did not slow down in the least bit. Right after I wrapped up with school it was literally right back to the dressform, as I had a prom dress to make for the daughter of one of my mom's co workers. I wont post the photo of her, since I didn't ask her permission, but you can see the gown. front back After that I started my internship at Catherines, part of the Charming Shoppes (Ascena Retail?) corporations. (They also own Fashion Bug and Lane Bryant). So far I like it and have learned a lot of how industry works and the importance of understanding business- kinda leaving me wishing I had taken a management or intro to finance course.. ah well c'est la vie I'll learn as I go, that's the point of intern and apprenticeships, no? Two quick notes first! I'm sure you noticed my new header upon clicking on my page. I wanted something more exciting than a typeface but not as cluttered/ messy as the last one. Second- I started adding "pages" to the tab bar located under the header. This will probably expand as classes wind down and I get into other things. Maybe I'll do some simple tutorials or patterns or something :-) But ok- Last week for me was one of those weeks that so much happened, you can't really remember anything. You know, one of those completely blurry crazy busy, one-thing-after-the-other weeks. First it was my midcrit for Collection, which went mostly well... but of course it had those time and distance issues that inevitably come up. Our critic, Jessica Groom, a well established designer who's worked for several companies has offered good advice but wants to make changes now to one of the pieces that could've been addressed before now if she was based locally/ had see...

I've quite possibly had the busiest two days of my life yesterday and today. Yesterday I had to be up bright and early (read: before 11 am) to help put together a display case showing of none other than.... TA- DA!!!! (L-R Patricia, Me, Jasmine, Yuliya) In all seriousness it  was more work than it looks. Once Yuliya and I got the case cleaned out, forms up and "dressed", pressed, and gorgeous, you know people came out the woodwork offering their criticisms. (blah, they weren't even constructive). Anyway life goes on. The case looks nice and is getting some decent foot traffic. In between this and Collection, there's the Fashion Show preparations, the first due dates are in a month. As you also know I've been getting a lot more serious about my internship search, more so now that I have a hole the size of Earth in my schedule next year. This was me exactly 12 hours ago. " its 5o'clock in the mornin.. presentation got boring. i should be heading to bed soon, but photoshop is my new moon. and i figured i'd play there, until the RA came up the stairs...   WTF right? for the man. I know. I'm sitting in class on the verge of nodding off so I figured this was a safe bet to look like I'm alert while.. not. Today I attended a career and internship fair. Interesting experience. I was almost immediately disheartened when I got my profile sheet back after the portfolio pick up and none of the Fashion employers wanted an immediate one- on- one appointment with me. I went back to work (Admissions) to inwardly sulk. I took the Career Service rep's advice and came back for the open interviews.
